Interaction is entirely voluntary on the animal's part. Captains cannot pursue whales. Sometimes, friendly whales approach boats on their own.

Juan Carlos was very personable and knowledgeable. The whales were beautiful and so friendly. No guarantee to touch them but still quite curious. Would recommend to anyone! Even the 4 hours round trip from La Paz feeling terrible was worth the opportunity for this experience
Great trip. Bring jacket to stay warm on boat ride out to area. Juan Carlos was very informative. Go enjoy
